At Waimate Medical Centre, repeat prescriptions are part of safe ongoing care.

Most repeat prescriptions are issued for three months at a time. This allows your clinician to:

• Review whether your medication is still appropriate

• Check safety, including required blood tests or monitoring

• Update your medication list if changes have occurred

Although legislation allows prescriptions for up to 12 months, our practice currently limits most repeats to three months to support patient safety.

In selected cases, a six-month prescription may be approved following a doctor’s review.

You may be asked to book an appointment or complete monitoring before your prescription is issued.

If another doctor or hospital has changed your medication, please let us know.

This approach aligns with Cornerstone standards for safe prescribing.
